Doomsday Is Coming In New ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ Trailer
Following last week’s Captain America: Civil War trailer premiere, Jimmy Kimmel Live gave comic book film fans another early Christmas gift Wednesday night with the premiere of a brand new trailer for the upcoming Warner Brothers’ film Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Star Ben Affleck (Bruce Wayne/Batman) introduced the clip during a comedy skit on the show.
The trailer begins with a tense meeting between Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent at a charity event, tersely discussing the relative merits of Superman and Batman. They’re soon interrupted by Jesse Eisenberg as a perfectly smug Lex Luthor.
The trailer then jumps between clips of multiple fight sequences, with narration teasing that Luthor is instigating their conflict from behind the scenes. Late in the trailer, after his plan has seemingly failed, we see Luthor release a clone/hybrid version of the DC character Doomsday. The beast is about to kill Batman, when he’s rescued by Wonder Woman. The spot ends with the Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, commonly known amongst comics fans as “DC’s Holy Trinity” standing united.
Beyond that, the trailer is filled with easter eggs and callbacks to it’s predecessor Man of Steel, and the overall DC Universe.
The eagerly anticipated Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled for release on March 25, 2016 and stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Amy Adams, and Jason Momoa. The film serves as pseudo-sequel to 2013’s Superman film Man of Steel, and is supposed to launch a DC Comics Cinematic Universe similar to Marvel’s absurdly successful MCU.
