If you are thinking about transitioning to a smaller home you might want to listen up! Thanks to a swanky new hotel in Portland, Oregon, you can now try out the tiny home trend!

The Tiny Digs Hotel was first thought of by Pam Westra and Allison Meyer. The tiny hotels first opened in late September in the Portland area and is a quick 15-minute walk from the downtown area. Westra and Meyers picked an old car dealership for their home base for the hotels.

Westra merged her love for tiny houses with Meyer’s passion for hospitality. The pair met in Kentucky in 2013 where they planned to keep in touch. About two years later, the twosome met up again where they were able to make their dreams a reality.

“We met again and started talking seriously about our passions, about hospitality, a tiny community and it clicked, it seemed like a perfect fit: a hotel of tiny houses,” Meyer explained to Today.

Currently, there are six tiny homes on the premise. The homes, which take about eight weeks to build, each have their own unique theme including a beach, bamboo, modern, and gypsy theme. When making a reservation, the guests can request which themed house they would like to stay in.

The houses, which cost $145 per night, are all fully furnished, pet-friendly, and have Wi-Fi. They also come with a sitting area, queen-sized bed, flushing toilet, shower, and an area for a little cooking.

And now the Beach has a rain cover (well almost, once the cover part is added tomorrow). #tinyhouse #pdxnow

Meyers and Westra plan to keep building, starting up again in April 2017. They hope to add six or seven houses to the premises.

“We also hope to create community among our guests as they sit by the fire, where travelers, tiny enthusiasts and locals can share experiences, ideas, and suggestions of Portland’s favorite places,” explained Meyer.
