Coldplay, Jay Z, and Demi Lovato wowed fans in India on Saturday at the country’s inaugural Global Citizen Festival.

More than 80,000 music fans gathered for the gig in Mumbai to watch the international acts perform in between messages from politicians and Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Sonakshi Sinha, and Shraddha Kapoor.

Lovato’s 20-minute set made way for British pop rock act The Vamps, who recently shot a music video in India.

Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire composer A.R. Rahman then stepped up to perform his hits, before rapper Jay Z played support to his pal Chris Martin’s band.

The overwhelmed Coldplay singer, who was the curator of the festival’s New York edition in September, was speechless at first, as Indian fans sang along with his tunes, but he eventually attempted a little Hindi to thank them for coming.

The band brought Rahman back onstage to perform a special version of India’s national song Vande Mataram, and the finale was something to behold as fireworks lit up the Mumbai night sky as the group performed “Fix You.”
