Rock group Green Day have pulled the plug on the first four dates of their upcoming tour due to illness.

The “American Idiot” hitmakers, fronted by Billie Joe Armstrong, were due to kick off their North American trek in St. Louis, MI on Tuesday, followed by gigs in Chicago, IL on Wednesday, Toronto, Canada on Friday, and Detroit, MI on Saturday.

However, the group has since announced it has been forced to cancel the Toronto show, where the stars were set to play at the World Cup of Hockey Fan Village, while the other three dates have been postponed as members of the band and crew have been struck down by a mystery ailment.

A statement released by Green Day reads, “We’re so sad to announce we have to postpone three shows and cancel Toronto. Many of us have been battling this infection for days on end to be ready, and it just got the best of us.”

The rockers are now expected to launch their latest tour in Columbus, OH on September 26.
