Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling’s La La Land will be honored with the Palm Springs International Film Festival’s Vanguard Award next year.

The movie’s director, Damien Chazelle, Stone, and Gosling will be feted at the Film Awards Gala on January 2 at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

“Director and writer Damien Chazelle delivers a resonant cinematic masterpiece with La La Land,” festival chairman Harold Matzner says. “This visually stunning film pays tribute to classic Hollywood musicals with a contemporary love story driven by pitch-perfect performances by Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.
