Stars send Condolences to Celine Dion Following Husband’s Death

Music stars including Josh Groban, Reba McEntire and Gloria Estefan have sent their condolences to Celine Dion following the death of her husband, Rene Angelil, on Thursday.

The Canadian music mogul and Dion’s longtime manager died of natural causes after a long battle with cancer, and after news of his passing hit headlines, the couple’s friends and fans took to social media to pay respects to Angelil.

Groban took to Twitter and wrote, “Rene spoke softly but carried monumental respect. Some of my first moments in this biz are because of him. Love to Celine & their children.”

Country icon McEntire posted on Instagram, “My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to Celine and her family on the passing of Rene. He fought a long hard battle,” while Estefan tweeted, “RIP Rene Angelil, great friend & human being! The world will take @celinedion &ur boys into its arms & continue 2 love & care 4 them 4 U.”

Songwriter Diane Warren, who penned Dion’s hit “Because You Loved Me,” wrote on Twitter, “Rene Angelil Rest in peace. Thank U for Celine + for giving her my songs Thank U for everything + I’m hoping there r casinos in Heaven.”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also paid his respects to Angelil, tweeting, “My condolences to @CelineDion, and to the children, friends and loved ones of Rene Angelil on his passing.”

Other tributes came from singers Carole King, Donny Osmond, LeAnn Rimes, Lance Bass, and Michelle Williams.

While Angelil had served as Dion’s manager for more than 30 years, they were married for 21 years, and have three children together.
