Serbian authorities have granted Hollywood action star Steven Seagal citizenship.

The Under Siege star visited the capital Belgrade in December, when he received an award for his humanitarian work and was offered the opportunity to train Serbian special police forces in Japanese martial art Aikido.

He also met President Tomislav Nikolic and Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, and suggested setting up a film association to help attract investment and employ young people in Serbia.

The President also praised the actor for visiting and promoting the country, and Belgrade Mayor Sinisa Mali said, “When you have such a famous star coming to Serbia, who loves our country and our people, our desire is to have him back again.”

The action star returned to Belgrade to perform at a live concert in Belgrade on New Year’s Eve.

The U.S. star has now been granted citizenship from Serbian officials, it was reported in the state gazette and on state TV on Monday.
