Terrence Howard Cries in Court as he Testifies over Divorce Settlement
Terrence Howard is seeking to have the 2012 agreement dismissed amid accusations he signed it under duress as Michelle Ghent reportedly threatened to leak embarrassing information about his sex life to the press.
Howard told the Los Angeles court he feared the release of audio and video footage of his private life would damage his career beyond repair, so he agreed to pay Ghent $5,800 a month for three years, despite their 2010 marriage only lasting one year. Their divorce was finalized in 2013.
The actor’s testimony came three days after his sister-in-law Yvonne Howard revealed in court on Tuesday, August 11, 2015, that she knew of the existence of a threesome caught on camera that the star’s ex was allegedly using to extort money out of Howard.
The dispute over the divorce deal has prompted bosses at Fox, the U.S. network which airs his hit new show Empire, to ask a judge to rule on how to split the Oscar nominee’s TV salary as Ghent was previously granted a cut of his earnings from the hip-hop drama. The 46 year old is contesting that claim, too.
Howard is now married to model/restaurateur Mira and they welcomed their first child together in May 2015.
