Let’s set something straight, parenting is exhausting.

Cleaning up countless messes, barely sleeping through the night, and doing endless amounts of laundry has become the typical routine for Danielle Murray and her family. Together with her husband Jon, Murray decided to share her struggles channeling her inner Taylor Swift in a hilarious parody video called, “A Mom Can Dream,” based on Swift’s “Wildest Dreams.”

The video features Murray and her husband going through a typical day, flashing back to unrealistic dreams Murray would like to have, dreams including getting a full night of sleep, taking a peaceful shower, and even peeing alone!

“I got an hour of sleep. Still wearing my PJ’s. Can’t eat till I feed this babe,” Murray sings in the parody video. “Chapped lips and sticky cheeks. Piles of laundry again. Life with kids is hard, but a mom can dream.”

Murray and her family have created many video blogs and parody videos in the past. The idea for “Mommy Dreams” was brought about when “the humorous contrast between her dream world and her real life with daughters Tyler, 4, Elena, 3, Judea, 2, and Adeline, 4 months,” shared Today.

“Laughter helps everything. I think it’s important to take a breath and remember that kids are just learning life,” Murray told Today. “It can be overwhelming parenting young children…putting their needs first and remembering to be patient when they make mistakes or when you can’t make it out of the door on time to save your life. Being able to laugh about those challenges helps to embrace them instead of building resentment or becoming frustrated.”

The parody is meant to be lighthearted, poking fun at the life Murray wishes she could have sometimes. She loves and cherishes her kids and knows the time with them will fly by.

“We know the long days are well worth it, and one day — when the kids have moved out — we can do all of those things we miss,” Murray shared on YouTube. “So don’t stop dreaming, mamas!”

So, what is this mother of four hoping to get for Mother’s Day?

“Since my husband serves on our church worship team, sleeping in and getting breakfast in bed has just never been an option for Mother’s Day for me,” Murray shared. “But that would be my dream — french toast, a mimosa, wildflowers, and some handmade cards from the girls who make me a mom.”
