The Weeknd Pulls Out of Rihanna Tour
The Weeknd has pulled out of his support slot on Rihanna’s Anti world tour.
The R&B star, real name Abel Tesfaye, was due to perform with the “Work” singer on the European leg of her tour, but has now forfeited his slot citing “changes with upcoming projects.”
A statement issued by tour promoters Live Nation read, “Due to some unforeseen changes with upcoming projects, The Weeknd will no longer be joining Rihanna on her upcoming international ‘Anti’ World Tour.”
Rihanna kicked off the delayed tour earlier this month with support by rapper Travi$ Scott. It had been due to begin in San Diego, California on February 26, but the beginning of the tour was put back until March 12 due to production delays.
The Weeknd’s non-appearance is the latest setback for European Rihanna fans, as two concerts in the U.K. were canceled due to scheduling difficulties caused by the delay.
A replacement to fill The Weeknd’s support slot had not been announced at the time of Your Daily Dish going to press, although the rapper Big Sean is also billed as providing support at European venues.
The North American leg of Rihanna’s Anti tour, continues on Wednesday with a concert in Buffalo, New York.
