Woman’s Starbucks Story Is Inspiring Thousands With Her Bravery
Entertainment| | By Michaela Mazur
“It was a Wednesday afternoon,” Genevieve Georget recounts as she describes her average morning coffee run at Starbucks 6 years ago.
She continued, “I stood at the bar, waiting for my drink, when the barista politely asked me what I was up to that day. As it turns out, I was en route to the airport at that moment…about to catch a flight to Italy with my husband.”
After the brief conversation, the barista handed Georget her coffee and wished her a nice trip, adding, “But then again, why wouldn’t you…your life is golden!”
Georget tells her readers that the baristas completely sincere comment “knocked the wind out of [her].”
“Honestly, what was I going to tell my barista?
‘Yes, we’re flying to Europe. I just miscarried our baby…we had a terrifying health scare…I’m suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder…and we’re feeling pretty far from God right now. So, yeah, going to Italy seemed as good a place as any to just run away from our life and justifiably eat gelato twelve times a day.'”
Since Georget shared her inspiring story, the post has gone viral, with 225,000+ likes and more than 100,000 shares. The post seems to have resonated with readers as it details the struggles that we all face and the internal, emotional scars that events in our lives can leave. There is no way for the people, even those we have daily interaction with, to have any idea what we are really going through or the pains that some endure. There is a saying, “Be kind, for everybody we meet is facing a hard battle.” Georget’s words ring true, in that as each and everyone one of us faces these battles and we should know we share this common tread between everyone we meet.
“Because life requires guts…it requires bravery…and it requires vulnerability. So, buy your coffee…wear your scars proudly…and carry on, dear soldier… You’re not in this battle alone.”
